Where to Eat in Kyoto
Kyoto or Japan in general is not an ideal place for tourists on a tight budget. All the same, if hungry visitors spend enough time checking and looking around, they will find something that fits their taste and budget. Many Japanese restaurants serve specialty dishes such as tempura, shushi and Japanese udon noodles.
In case you need a change from local fare Kyoto is also home to a variety of cuisine, from European to Asian food. One factor that you should note is that many small restaurants still prefer to accept payment only in cash and it can be difficult to locate ATM machines in some areas.
Some of the city’s best restaurants are in Higashiyama including some that have been awarded up to three Michelin stars.
