Shinjuku Nightlife

Where to Go at Night in Shinjuku - Tokyo

When Shinjuku Station opened back in the 1880s the already famous nightlife district evolved to cater more to male commuters than upper class Tokyoites. The area north east of Shinjuku Station called Kabukicho is the most famous red light district in the country offering everything from lap dances to explicit role play for men and women of any sexual orientation.

Pachinko parlors are everywhere and Love Hotels are also a common sight especially in the gay district of Nichome and Golden Gai a narrow street packed with tiny stand up bars. A number of cinemas play the latest Japanese and international films.
